The incident unfolded as Trump was addressing questions about efforts to bring hostages home from Gaza. As he leaned in to hear a reporter more clearly, a microphone with a fuzzy windscreen—commonly called a “dead cat” for its ability to block out background noise—accidentally smacked him in the cheek and lip.
